king of shaves offers Smooth, comfortable shaving gels, oils, cream and razors for an irritation free shave.


THE BRIEF:

This brief was hosted by One Minute Briefs back in 2021. They had collaborated with King Of Shaves for a one day brief that called for entrants to ‘reimagine’ the current KOS packaging to better appeal to a younger audience. The brief was very open, and it received hundreds of entrants.

THE PROBLEM:

King of Shaves wanted to re design their packaging to appeal to Millennial & Gen-Z audiences ahead of their 30th anniversary in 2023. They wanted to reposition themselves as experts in the market, and to gain more sales from a larger audience.

THE SOLUTION:

As a member of the Gen Z group, I referred to both my own tastes and researched brands I knew were popular with the younger generations. I decided that a more ‘grungy’ aesthetic would work well for the rebrand, featuring a darker colour palette and a bronze accent. I also came up with a simple line illustration for this concept too, which fit nicely with the graffiti and digital art that was trending at the time. My design was chosen as the winner, and King of Shaves commissioned me to build out my ideas further, in which I changed the design colours slightly, keeping one accent colour on each bottle to denote the legacy ‘variations’. The final amends were made internally, and they took the crown element of the illustration forward along with the updated colour schemes, and they are on shelves today!
